Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by the circulating blood on the walls of blood vessels, and it is measures, low blood pressure and high blood pressure are not good and it have to fall in between and normal blood pressure differs from person to person, for athletes normal blood pressure will be an alarming low blood pressure for a non athlete, also there is a standard blood pressure chart and in that chart a systolic BP of lesss than 120 hg and diastolic BP of less than 80 is considered as a healthy BP.

People worry a lot when they get high BP readings from the clinic, I must say many people who gets higher than normal BP at doctor clinic is having white collar syndrome, it is the anxiety they are having when they are in the clinic and their curiosity about the result, so if you really want to measure your correct BP you should keep a blood pressure monitoring device at home, there are electronic devices which measure accurate BP you should keep one of them if you want to check your blood pressure.

I must say it is the ultimate way to get a normal blood pressure is by meditating, because your state of mind have an immediate and direct impact on you cardio vascular system, being anxious, anger, tense will increase blood pressure and meditation helps a person to remain calm as a result of practicing regular meditation( preferable early morning and evening ) one can gradually normalize blood pressure, meditation also have lot of other benefits.

Exercise

Running, brisk walking, engaging in sporting activities like badminton, tennis etc that makes your heart pump blood effectively and it helps to reduce your weight, with the reduction of weight you can lower your blood pressure, moderate strength training is also very useful in reducing the blood pressure, so you should fight it out to see the visible results in a week or so .

Listening to soft relaxing music

Soft music which helps you to attain tranquility is very good in keeping you blood pressure under control, it woks on the mind level just like meditation, so listen to relaxing using through your ipod or any other music system and listen them regularly and get immersed in it. Also remember heavy metals and hard rock will give a negative effect sometimes.

Hair grows almost everywhere on human body it grows out of hair follicles found in our skin ,but we are more concerned about hair that grows on our head, So will be writing about the hair that grows on human head.
Hair health can be traced to our genes that we got from parents. All hair follicles are formed during fetal development, then new hair is generated in the hair follicle by continually undergoing phases of recession, rest, and growth throughout life. The length of the hair is determined by the duration of the growth phase, eg: the growth phase for scalp hair can proceed for a number of years, while the growth phase for eyebrows last a few months.After the growth phase, hair formation ceases, and the follicle recedes and enters a period of rest. After a period of rest, a new growth period starts, and the old hair is ejected and lost from the body. The reason for this complex regulation of hair growth is not understood, but it has been suggested that it makes it possible to adjust hair growth to the season.
Causes or hair loss are many they are – :
Pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia). This is male and female pattern baldness and its reason is hereditary, it happens when the time of growth shortens, and resulting in thinning of hair with each growth cycle, the hairs become rooted more superficially and more easily fall out . A history of androgenetic alopecia on either side of your family increases your risk of balding. Heredity also affects the age at which you begin to lose hair and the developmental speed, pattern and extent of your baldness.
Cicatricial (scarring) alopecia.  When inflammation damages and scars the hair follicle resulting in permanent hairloss  . This prevents new hair from growing. This condition can be seen in several skin conditions, including lupus erythematosus or lichen planus. It’s not known what triggers or causes this inflammation.
Alopecia areata. This is classified as an autoimmune disease, but the cause is unknown. People who develop alopecia areata are generally in good health but a few people may have other autoimmune disorders, which  includes thyroid disease. Some scientists believe that some people are genetically predisposed to develop alopecia areata and that a trigger, such as a virus or something else in the environment, sets off the condition. A family history of alopecia areata makes you more likely to develop it. With alopecia areata, your hair generally grows back, but you may lose and regrow your hair a number of times.
Telogen effluvium. Change in normal hair cycle is usually the reason for this type of hair loss. An emotional or physical shock to your system will causes hair roots to be pushed prematurely into the resting state. The affected growing hairs from these hair roots fall out. In a month or two, the hair follicles become active again and new hair starts to grow. Telogen effluvium may follow emotional distress, such as a death in the family or a physiological stress, such as a high fever, extreme diets, sudden or excessive weight loss,  surgery, nutritional deficiencies,or metabolic disturbances. Hair typically grows back once the condition that caused it corrects itself, but it usually take months.
Traction alopecia. Excessive hairstyling or hairstyles that pull your hair too tightly cause traction alopecia. If the pulling is stopped before there’s scarring of your scalp and permanent damage to the root, hair usually grows back normally.

Some Other causes of hair loss

Poor nutrition. Iron and Protein can nourish your hair, having little protein or iron in your diet or poor nourishment in other ways can result in hair loss. Fad diets, crash diets and certain illnesses, such as eating disorders, can cause poor nutrition.
Medications .Some  drugs used to treat  arthritis, gout, depression, heart problems and high blood pressure may cause hair loss in some people. Taking birth control pills also may result in hair loss for some women.
Disease. Diabetes and lupus can cause hair loss.
Medical treatments. Undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy may cause you to develop alopecia. Under these conditions, healthy, growing (anagen) hairs can be affected. After your treatment ends, your hair typically begins to regrow.
Changes in Hormones. Hormonal changes and imbalances can cause temporary hair loss. This could be due to pregnancy, childbirth, discontinuation of birth control pills, the onset of menopause, or an overactive or under-active thyroid gland. The hair loss may be delayed by three months following a hormonal change, and it’ll take another three months for new hair to grow back. During pregnancy, it’s normal to have thicker, more luxuriant hair. It’s also common to lose more hair than normal about three months after delivery. If a hormonal imbalance is associated with an overproduction of testosterone, there may be a thinning of hair over the crown of the scalp. Correcting hormonal imbalances may stop hair loss.
Hair treatments. Chemicals used for tinting, dying, bleaching, straightening or permanent waves can damage your hair and break off if they are overused or used incorrectly. Over styling and excessive brushing is also a reason for hair loss if the hair shaft becomes damaged.
Scalp infection. Infections, such as ringworm, can invade the hair and skin of your scalp, leading to hair loss. Once infections are treated, hair generally grows back. Ringworm, a fungal infection, can usually be treated with a topical or oral antifungal medication.
Trichotillomania (hair-pulling disorder). Trichotillomania is a type of mental illness in which people have an irresistible urge to pull out their hair, whether it’s from the scalp, their eyebrows or other areas of the body. Hair pulling from the scalp often leaves them with patchy bald spots on the head, which they may go to great lengths to disguise. Causes of trichotillomania are still being researched, and no specific cause has yet been found.

The deadly duo of nanotubes and antibodies that search and distroy breast cancer cells

A recent development in nano medicine opened a possible gateway in curing aggressive form of breast cancer that is killing millions around the world, the positive development in this filed came from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and its partners.

Nanotubes made of carbon cylinders about a nanometre in diameter which are single walled have been highly touted for potential applications such as ultra strong fibers, electrical wires in molecular devices, or hydrogen storage components for fuel cells which can also be used in the detection and destruction breast cancer cells.

HER2 is one of a family of genes that help regulate the growth and proliferation of human cells. Normal cells have two copies of HER2, but about 20 to 25 percent of breast cancer cells have multiple copies of the gene, resulting in the overproduction of a HER2-encoded protein. These multiple copies of HER2 tumors can successfully tracked and destroy by adding chicken immunoglobulin IgY antibody to nanotubes.

The two unique optical properties of carbon nanotubes allow this link to be exploited for improved detection and destruction of HER2 breast cancer cells. Near-infrared laser light at a wavelength of 785 nanometers reflects intensely off the nanotubes, and this strong signal is easily detected by a technique called Raman spectroscopy. Increase the laser light’s wavelength to 808, nanometers and it will be absorbed by the nanotubes, incinerating them and HER2 tumor cells to which they are attached and the wide genetic differences between human and avian species means that the chicken IgY antibody to HER2 reacts strongly with the target protein expressed on tumor cells while ignoring normal cells with other human proteins. The carbon nanotubes attached to the antibodies also become linked to the HER2 tumors.

Although this finding is in its infancy, scientist can see the future potential of this new technology. The next step for the research team is to see it working works with animals starting with mouse trails.

Scientists in Illionis are developing the fist ever  nanoparticle that can seek and destroy brain cancer cells without causing any damage to nearby cells.

The Studies shows that Titanium dioxide nanoparticles, witch are light sensitive particles which are used in sunscreens can destroy cancer cells when it is exposed to ultraviolet light. Even if it is effective in destroying caner cells scientists had difficulties in getting nanoparticles, each about 1 by 50,000th the width of a human hair, to target and enter cancer cells while avoiding healthy cells.

The  solution involves chemically linked titanium dioxide nanoparticles to an antibody that recognizes and attaches to GMB cells. The nanoparticles killed up to 80 percent of the brain cancer cells after 5 minutes of exposure to focused white light.The positive result of these experiments are a good hope for brain cancer treatment.
