Nanodiamond surface with PEI800 for biocompatibile gene therapy
Studies conducted by Northwestern researchers are showing us that Nanodiomonds can be used as a vehicle for gene delivery they do it by by functionalizing the nanodiamond surface with PEI800 and it is going to revolutionize the genetic medicine front, this new technology combines key properties in one approach, ie : enhanced delivery efficient along with outstanding bio compatibility.This technology used surface-modified nanodiamond particles that can successfully deliver DNA into mammalian cells this is 70 times greater than that of a conventional gene delivery standard which are very toxic to the cells.
Doses of nanodiamond-PEI800 that were three times higher than that of the high-molecular weight PEI revealed a highly bio-compatible complex. Nanodiomaonds can also be used effectively in delivering therapeutic proteins
Gene therapy with the aid of nanodiamonds holds promise in treating a variety of diseases including cancer, and diabetes,heart disease and many other diseased, It can also aid the new anti aging gene therapy.
